| Amateur radio isn't really about getting operating awards and certificates, but hey it's fun. This one was easy, but you have to start somewhere. All I had to do was to confirm one satellite contact.  This award requires that you contact 20 different U.S. states or Canadian call areas or DXCC countries.  This award requires that you make at least 1000 two-way satellite contacts. I recently recieved an endorsement for making 2,000 contacts.  This award requires that you contact 60 different U.S. states or Canadian call areas or DXCC countries.  Here you have to make one satellite contact with any station in 100 different grid squares. I currently have endorsements for 250 grids.  This award is available if you provide evidence that you have made 25 contacts through any Phase II satellites.  While portable in the Walmart parking lot in Clinton, AR, I was able to contact Susan Helms of the Expedition 2 crew. This contact was on 7 July 2001.  This one took be quite some time to achieve. Some of the states just don't have many satellite operators in this. The final state I needed was Wyoming and that was QSL's by N7SFI while traveling.  |
